About us

We at 3 Counties Church are a group of people with different life stories who are journeying together, as we discover the love of God and how he can transform our lives.

This journey began in 1966 with just four families who met in the St John’s Ambulance Hut in Haslemere.  Not content just to have their own lives transformed, their passion for sharing the good news of Jesus led to the church outgrowing their modest surroundings and purchasing the old Methodist Church (now our church office) by Haslemere Station.  Since then, our church services have been held in various community buildings around the town, including the Haslemere Hall, before we purchased an additional church building in Hammer which we now use for our services.

Whilst locations and styles of worship have changed over the years, the passion and heart of the church remain the same. Our vision and values reflect what we want to be – a group of people who love God and each other and want to impact the wider community with the love and power of the God that we have come to know.

Although we have never joined a particular denomination, we have always sought out and been blessed by godly external input.   Our present leadership team have been influenced by the Anglican Church HTB and the Vineyard and Jonathan Carter, our Senior Pastor and son of the founder of 3 Counties Church, receives regular input from a remarkable Bible teacher and discipler, Gbile Akanni.  Our leadership team is mentored by Pete Gilbert, an evangelist and church planter who also runs a discipleship course called DNA.  Pete is a regular visitor to the Church and has given us invaluable help over recent years.  We are also a member of the Evangelical Alliance.

Whilst we may be an “independent” church, we very much see ourselves as a part of the wider Church of Jesus.  Over the years we have played a major role in drawing together other churches in the town and we currently work together with other local churches in our youth work and with both the summer Wave and Healing on the Streetscommunity outreaches.  Jonathan Carter also continues to be co-ordinator of the Haslemere Ministers Network.

Whatever your age, background, beliefs and experiences of God, you are welcome at 3 Counties Church. Hopefully this website will give you an idea of the different ways you can connect with us, but do contact us if you would like to find out more.
